About Us
In mid 1990, shortly after Uwaifo Osaigbovo settled in Michigan, both Kienuwa Obaseki and himself started meeting regularly to explore ways to work together on development projects in our home State, known then as Bendel. This evolved in Sept 1991, into Edo Club of Michigan when Edo State was created in August 1991. From its inception, its intents and purposes were to be inclusive of all the communities from Edo State in Michigan. The vision was strengthened when the founding members attended the Inaugural Planning Meeting for Edo Convention-USA (later Edo National Association) in Chicago, Illinois on Dec 7 -R, 1991 .
The Pioneers
The association grew gradually, primarily by word of mouth. As the founding members met other Edos at other Nigerian gatherings, they were invited. Among the pioneers were Samuel Imarhiagbe, Phillip Omorogieva, Lucky Izekor (Late), Omoregie Matthews, Collins and Rita Arhebarnen, as well as Adesuwa Obaseki and Rebecca Osaigbovo. Many others attended at various times, but due to job relocations and other reasons could not continue as members.
