On Saturday, August 06, 2011, Edo Heritage Foundation of Michigan is hosting a Fundraising event gearing towards Raising Funds To Purchase Edo Heritage Community Center. This event will be held at Mother of God Church, 25585 Berg Road, Southfield, Michigan, starting at 4:00 pm.

Why Community Center?
The proposed Community Center will enrich the lives of our residents and visitors by offering educational, recreational, social and cultural activities. This center will be a learning place for cultural arts, academics, dance. We will also accommodate seminars, banquets, and gatherings. Free social and emotional development activities, lessons, and plans to help model, shape and reinforce social skills. We envision a new standard in Global Education – a standard that ensures children are educated and informed about the diverse people, places and cultures on our planet – at an early age. We envision a world where children grow up understanding the differences and similarities they have with others in the world, as this will make all children better rounded, educated and compassionate adults.

Our Goal
We want all people, regardless of race, creed or circumstance to achieve their full potential. Our task is to make it possible. Our goal is to provide practical, step-by-step assistance.
Our goal is to establish a framework through which Edo citizens in America would be mainstreamed in Edo State’s economic development. The objective is to empower the Edo citizens in America to become more associated with Edo State growth and development so that they can contribute effectively to the realization of its goals.
Edo Heritage Foundation of Michigan will continue to lead the charge in highlighting business opportunities and creating a platform to showcase the positively thriving economic side of the Edo story to the Michigan business community.
Now, with an opportunity to create a visionary integration of community, it’s time for all of us to step up and provide the physical space required to meet this exciting challenge. Our community shares the need for civic opportunities that would improve our circumstances and quality of life. The ever-increasing demand for our services exceeded our capacity to meet all the needs of individuals in our community.

Why Attend?
Edo community in Michigan is in need of a bona-fide Community Center so that we may continue to fulfill our mission in our community. It is through your humble support, and supports from others that we will be able to continue to strengthen the Edo Diaspora community, develop new and innovative projects and inform Michigan business community on how to do business in Edo State and Nigeria in general.

This event will be attended by high-level dignitaries and businesses from Edo State of Nigeria, Edo citizens in the Diaspora, African organizations in Michigan, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), local business owners, institutions and more.

You have always been a great supporter of positive courses and we look forward to your participation and support in this upcoming Fundraising event. It is through your kind generosity that we will be able to continue to strengthen our community, develop new and innovative projects.

We want to say once more on behalf of the Edo Heritage Foundation organizing committee, welcome. It will be a pleasure to see you on Saturday, August 6th, 2011 at 4:00 pm at 25585 Berg Road, Southfield, Michigan. [SAVE THIS DATE]

This event is organized by Edo Heritage Foundation of Michigan, in collaboration with Edo National Associations USA and is supported by African organizations in Michigan

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I humbly welcome you to our Annual End of Year Party.
The Edo Heritage Foundation of Michigan was founded in March 1993. The foundation is geared towards promoting the Edo culture; helping its members and also, our home communities.

In 2004, the foundation renovated a maternity ward at the General Hospital in Benin City, Edo state, Nigeria. This years celebration is quite remarkable because for the first time since it’s inception 17 years ago, Edo Heritage Foundation of Michigan has a female President, and the foundation has had a litany of first, since I assumed office early this year.

Few months ago, the foundation successfully inaugurated its first Walk-A-Thon, an event geared toward health consciousness. We have set up a welfare committee, which caters to the various needs of members. We have also organized and Edo Cultural Dance Group that will perform tonight.

Above all, the foundation has experienced a tremendous increase in membership since I became the president. This exciting and welcome trend, has made it necessary for us to pursue yet another project- EDO COMMUNITY CENTER.

Individual homes can no longer accommodate members for our monthly meetings. It is therefore pertinent to undertake this must have project. The Edo Community Center will not only benefit its members, but also to everyone who is in need. The following are some of the services to be offered: senior programs, tutoring for all ages, computer classes, mentoring our youth a community pantry, healthy living and recreational programs. On display, will be the very rich culture of the Edo Kingdom.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are asking for your support as we embark on this worthy venture. Our goal is to raise half a million dollars to effectively operate the center.

Thank you for your support.
On behalf of the members of Edo Heritage Foundation I wish you all Merry Christmas and God’s blessing in the New Year. Thanks again for coming to share with us today.
